We are a Church That Believes in Jesus

Polio, the scourge of India’s last century, visited Pastor Reegan Gomez when he was only nine months old. It left him as a wreck which lost the movement of both his arms and legs. Later he discontinued his studies as he needed constant help from others for each and everything. As he grew,” Why God, Why me and Why me alone?” was the nagging question in his mind but he never took it to his heart. “The Lord gave and the Lord took away” was his self-pacification as he endured this physical distress with joy and happiness. He waited patiently for God to work-out his purpose for him.

Then on, he devoted himself for prayer and Bible reading which later became his inseparable companion. The verse ‘The Lord works in mysterious ways’ is true in Pastor Reegan Gomez’s case. Devoid of any formal training in music and academics, and carrying a chronic physical torment, this suffering believer became a true Servant of Jesus Christ, praising, singing and preaching His words and has been an instrument for the salvation of thousands of God’s people through his missionary work. Pastor Reegan is a living –proof of God’s demonstration of His power and love towards the weak, the hopeless and the suffering.

The sufferings, the trials and tribulations faced by Pastor Reegan prove to be the seed and feed of his spiritual enrichment. He is never a Fair-weather Christian. Indeed nowhere in his songs and hymns we feel those suffering and pain instead it is all praise and glory to our God Almighty. God orchestrated His special purpose for this physically hopeless young man by helping him to release 10 albums under the banner ARATHANAI ARUTHAL GEETHANGAL. Not stopping there, God uses him in numerous other ways like for His conventions, Youth meetings, Sunday worships.

Movement is the prime function of humans and we are eventually judged by how well we move and perform in life. But a man who lost this very movement in his prime became the prime soldier in God’s Salvation Army. Despite the movement of his body, this young man moves hundred of hearts with his divine, spiritually gratifying hymns praising the dear God and the the Lord Jesus Christ. Yes, this is not the story of Pastor Reegan Gomez but it is the story of God’s revelation to the believing, suffering Christians that the undue, unjust suffering faced by them each and every day is not without a purpose. It is only that we don’t understand that purpose. Let us be encouraged through the life of Pastor Reegan who never sought to understand GOD instead he was happy praising Him. God in turn lifted him above all to be his special messenger of His kingdom-to-come. Be all the Glory, Praise, and Honour unto God and God alone! Amen.
